Excellent hotel, excellent location and staff
Went here for a weekend and must say the location of the hotel is brill. The rooms were very clean and spacious and we were lucky enough to be given a room that faced onto the fish market and the view was superb. The breakfast was plentiful with loads of choice from hot cooked food to cereal, cold meats, yoghurt and fruit. The staff were brilliant especially when we needed some assistance, they organised taxi’s and made phone calls on our behalf, I cannot praise them enough. The staff all speak perfect English and were very friendly and helpful. One other thing, there is a smoking room off the bar area, which is a bonus for us smokers and means you dont have to stand in front of the hotel smoking. There is also a viewing terrace on the top floor, perfect for taking pictures.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
You can buy duty free when you arrive at Bergen and its cheaper than Schipol. Take the ’Airport bus’ from the airport and get off at the Fishmarket, especially for this hotel as its just over the road. Fares cost 80 NOK which is about 8 pounds but good value. We went to the ’Aquarium’ which is at the end of the pier, it has penguins, seal’s and crocodiles as well as fish well exhbited and worth a visit. We went up Mount Floyden, the view is superb. It cost 70NOK return, approx 7 pounds.
