high on style, low on space.
Hmmm. High on style, but low on space and views. The main floor is the 2nd to top floor, and most rooms are below. This is fine if you adjoin the pool, but in my case, my window faced a cinder block wall and was very very small. Small meaning that if you are a man, and need to put both toilet seats up, it wont stay up. Meaning you turn sideways around the bed. The cleaning staff and valet were very nice, but maybe the front desk was lacking a little bit. PS- plan on $28/day parking and tips to go along with that! No coffee makers, but coffee in the hall in the morning. You can buy some sealed bottled air in your bathroom for $68! HA!

The Grafton on Sunset - Fabulous location
Stayed at the Grafton on Sunset for three nights from 26th September 2009. We had a double room with four sharing the facility. The staff were friendly, cheerful and polite and I found the bellstaff to be particularly helpful, offering advice freely and with a ready smile. Although the room was small for four guests it was quite comfortable (the beds were very comfortable)and I particularly liked the decor - the large pictures on the wall were fascinating! The room was clean and was kept so for the duration of our stay. The bathroom was, again, a little small for four people to share. However, there was never an occasion where we all needed the bathroom at the same time so this was a moot point. Some plumbing knowledge needed here because the sink plug mechanism was broken and had to be operated by hand from underneath the sink, again a minor irritant. which I did not report. The only real problem was the room Key card. This seemed to work once only and then had to be reset by the reception staff. It became tiresome each time a return to the room was attempted, by any or all of us, to have to return to reception to be reset. It was never resolved over the three days. Breakfast was taken on the balcony because the restaurant was closed for refurbishment. Nonetheless, it was satisfactory (if a little cold) with good menu choice. I particularly liked the excellent coffee in a bottomless cup - something all Britons never experience in the UK. Our server was very polite and always served with a smile. All of our party were absolutely delighted with the location of this hotel. To stay on the famous Sunset Strip with Hollywood so close was a dream come true. We took advantage of a superb sightseeing tour, booked through the hotel reception, which included a hotel pick-up and drop off. We visited Santa Monica (what a fabulous place!) and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To summarise, the Grafton on Sunset is extremely good value for money. Its prime location makes it a must have for ease of access to areas of interest and downright fame! Overall, our stay was very pleasant, we would certainly use the Hotel again and I would certainly recommend the Grafton to others. May we extend our thanks to the Hotel and its staff for helping to provide our group with such a memorable holiday.

Recommend to younger crowds
Ive stayed here twice now. The first time I had a room next to the bar which meant there was little chance of sleeping before 2am because of the loud music, although this was not a problem because it was a "boys holiday" and we were always out until late. On my recent second stay, this time with my girlfriend, I had a room elsewhere in the hotel (adjacent to the swimming pool) and it was nice and quiet. One night there were people using the pool area until the early hours which was slightly noisy but no major problem. Aside of potential noise issues, its a very friendly, comfortable and clean hotel. Nice pool area, particularly at night and there is free coffee available downstairs in the mornings too! Theres also a couple of PCs for free use for web access, etc.
