Consistently good service, location and staff.
I have stayed at this hotel for about ten years now, and each time I return they have made improvements. The staff is friendly, speak English and the hotel is clean, safe and conveniently located close to the train station for day trips around Switzerland. The restaurants and the Kunsthaus (art museum) are within walking distance. The breakfast is satisfying and healthy. Computer with free internet is located in the lobby and is fine for short messages; otherwise, bring your own laptop and use the service in your room. I’ll keep coming back.

Booked a twin bedded room. As a courtesy to the hotel, we e-mailed them 48hours in advance to advise of our arrival time & confirming the two bed requirement. Arrived to find we a has a single double bed, with no other rooms available. The room was on the first floor above the hotel entrance. It was stuffy & hot with no aircon. The street was noisy 24 hours a day, so window could not be left open. No wardrobe, just a rail with 5 coat hangers. No drawers or cupboards either. Duvet that did not even fit the bed. Pillows that provided zero head / neck support. Breakfast ends at 10am, by 930am there is next to nothing left. The only good thing about this hotel is its location, very near to the main station, central tram stops, the river & the old town. Would not stay here again. They also charged a 15CHF city tax on departure, although my invoice from Hotels.com says all taxes & fees are paid for.
Day tickets for the transport system were good value, value for a full 24 hours after purchase. They will also give you 50% discount on the ZVV boats that run every 30 minutes on the lake.
