Backstreet but Briliant!

It was only due to the great kindness of the Prague public that I managed to find the hotel at all. They peered over my map, rubbed their chins and then pointed. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet back street that you may have difficulty finding. But this hotel certainly is worth finding. Although it is a little way off the beaten track, it’s a short walk to many of Prague’s sensational sights. The breakfast is hearty and sets you up for the day and the desk staff are brilliant. I strongly reccommend a stay at the Cloister Inn but maybe take your Sat Nav to find it.

True to its name

The Cloister is true to its name - a haven. Well kept rooms, hearty breakfasts and pleasant, helpful staff, what more could one ask for? Free Internet? That’s available too. And to top it off, just around the corner from the quaint, Rotunda Holy Rood church with Masses Tuesday and Sunday! Would definitely recommend it to others.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Because of the nature of Prague streets, factor in more time to get to and from different attractions. They may seem close on the map but the terrain makes it longer to get to. Also tours don’t usually include admission to attractions and entrance fees usually require that you also additionally buy the autoguide as there are no description posted on the exhibits,

Will be booking again for a Winter stay

Had a very nice stay in this friendly hotel situated within a pleasant short walk of Old Town Square and Charles Bridge. Whilst tea and coffee is available in the lobby it would be more appreciated if this facility was also in your room. However will have no hesitation in returning here and would highly recommend to others

Hotel sited in ideal location

Good quality hotel, with excellent & friendly service provided by English speaking reception staff. Ideal location to visit the main attractions that Prague has to offer; including a 5 minute walk to the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, & Wenceslas Square

Traveller's tip on dining

Plenty of good restaurants in close proximity to the hotel, including an Indian, Italaina Pizzeria, and of course, a number of good Czech restaurants

great hotel, best location

friendly english speaking staff, large room, good price, free parking, free wifi, best location, nothing bad to say about his place. if you are driving into the czech republic exchange all your money at the border. the official exchange rate was 25 crowns to the euro. at the border the exchange rate was 23 to 1 and in prague the exchange rate was 17 to 1...

Great location.

Great location, within walking distance of most things you want to see, some other hotels advertised as central location are not really a short walk away. Call ahead if you need parking since they have limited capacity.

Outstanding Service

This was a great hotel in a great location. The service was outstanding. Every night the front desk recommended a great local restaurant. Very friendly. I plan on staying here again when we visit Prague during the fall.

It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel.

The twin-bedded room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. We enjoyed the breakfast although it would have been nice to have a choice between boiled/fried/scrambled eggs each morning - for 3 mornings it was boiled eggs only and on the last morning it was scrambled eggs only. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and obviously enjoy their work. The location is perfect in a very quiet street within a short walking distance of the river, the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square, the metro and the trams.

Great hotel for a fun weekend exploring Prague

The hotel had the fun atmosphere of a backpackers’ hostel, with free tea and coffee and internet access in the lobby, which turned into a bar later. But at the same time it was quite smart and very clean, with big comfortable rooms. A bit of a trek through the rabbit warren from our room to the breakfast room, but worth it when we got there. Pretty well located for all the tourist destinations, close to a useful tram route too. The staff at reception were helpful and spoke good English.

I would recommend anyone to stay here

Had a really comfortable stay in Cloisters Hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the old town square but off the beaten track where you miss all the noise of the crowds. The breakfast is fine, the same every day so gets a bit boring but you will be full for the day! Our room was a large twin room with plenty of space and storage and there is a safe in the room. I would recommend this hotel for sure!

More than we expect, I know were we will stay again in Prague

We didn’t think that the location of the hotel, in relation to the main attractions, was so near and within waking distance. The hotel service was excellent, the employees very friendly and the front desk very cooperative. I’m very impressed with the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The breakfast is also very good (I loved the yogurt). The only thing I would changed would be the selection of mattresses for the rooms, which I happen to think are too hard for me. This hotel doesn’t have to envy a 5 star hotel in service and cleanliness.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

In front of the hotel there are three very good restaurants, especially an Indian one. Don’t leave Prague without visiting La Bodeguita del Medio Restaurant, and try the onion soup, its out of this world.

Good budget hotel

Great location, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. We stayed in the old part of the hotel and it was a bit of a trek to the breakfast room and reception. The breakfast was very basic but ok. The room was huge with air conditioning and a free mini bar. Will stay here again but would ask for a room in the new part of the hotel.

Terrific staff at a basic hotel

We were amazed by the young staff who spoke many languages fluently, gave helpful information and advice, and solved problems with ease and consistent friendliness. Decorating was not this hotel’s strong suit, but the room was large, the beds comfortable, and the room and linens impeccably clean. Breakfast buffet was quite adequate.

Would not stay anywhere else!

Fabulous, great central yet quiet location. Perfect for old town and easy for newer parts. Tesco nor far away either which was very useful. Extremely helpful and very nice staff on reception, breakfast great, quiet, used to restaurants they recommended, again, great food and staff. My friend woudl have liked tea and coffe in the room but it did not bother me and having the mini fridge was invaluable. Can’t fault it in any way

Do try the 2 restaurants the hotel recommends, only round the corner and graet food and service

Exellent location and Fabulous hotel

Holiday made perfect from start to finish.Arranged taxi from airport through the hotel and even though we arrived 20mins early taxi was waiting for us.Check in was friendly and efficient.Whole of hotel was very clean and well presented,it looked as though it had only recently been re-furbised (you could still smell the newness of the carpet.Breakfast was good quality and plentiful. The hotel is in agreat location for all the major attractions, but is in a quiet street (the was no disturbance at night). Overall i can`t recommend this hotel highly enough .

Make sure you take good walking shoes. Charles bridge can get very congested so try to visit early morning.

Quiet comfort, off the beaten path.

A very good value. The staff was helpful, and the room was clean and spacious. The only downside was a lack of in-room internet service, although two computers were available in the lobby area for that purpose. The first time we went out sightseeing we were a little concerned about finding our way back, as the hotel’s location is a little out of the way, but it is within walking distance of most major points of interest and the location is fine once you get the hang of it. The included breakfast was quite sumptious.

Excellent base for exploring Prague

The best thing about the Cloister Inn hotel is its location. It is just where you want to be. Other than that, you get a fairly good breakfast, and the service and quality is very good, considering this was advertised as a 3 star. It was also sold out when I stayed, which is a good sign.

Papas, round the corner in bethlehem Square is a nice bar with good reasonably priced food

Amazing value for 3* Hotel

The Cloister Inn was a real find. It was so well situated close to the river, Charles Bridge etc that you could walk out to sightsee during the day, walk back for a collapse and change and walk out again for a meal. The staff were super helpful; the lobby with complimentary drinks, books and free PCs and wi fi access provided a relaxing meeting point and the breakfasts provided plenty of choice. Our room was huge with sofa, desk etc, very clean and well furnished. And it was lovely coming back after my birthday meal to a complimentary bottle of wine and card!

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

You can buy the official Prague Card from the hotel which gives you entrance to 50 tourist sites including all the Prague Castle sites. Unfortunately we bought the Prague Card /Passport from the airport which is not the official card and only gets you into 11 sites, none of which are on the main tourist itinerary. So wait til you get to the hotel and ask their advice.

Excellent

I stayed at this hotel with my mum for a girls weekend break, it was excellent, the hotel is in a very central location but just down a side street so it wasnt noisy, took us 5 min to get to the old town and Charles Bridge, the rooms and public areas are very clean, the room was hugh and although the beds dont look it at 1st glance very comfortably, the reception staff were lovely, they couldnt do enough for us. Overall we were very impressed and wouldnt hesitate in going back there or recommending it to friends and family.

Traveller's tip on dining

Dont eat or drink at the main square in the old town as very expensive, 15 pds for a coke and beer, go down one of the side streets much cheaper and just as nice.

Splendid Hotel & Chaps!

Don’t be put off by the Stalinist exterior! This is a great 3 star hotel in an excellent location round the corner from the Bethlehem Chapel and on to the Old Square. Friendly English speaking staff who offer a great deal of help with excursions and sights. The hotel also offers a hotel connection for round 620koruna, a cab is waiting for you when you touch down. Free internet and beverages in the lobby. Lovely stuff!

Traveller's tip on nightlife

Keep away from the New Town if easily irritated as you are constantly ambushed by men directing you to gaudily lit doorways with ladies on them!
