Past glories
The Westminster is trying to cling on to its image of a high end hotel visited by clients at the high end of the social scale. It was comfortable and clean, and staff were generally efficient. However, the decor is drab, the furniture in our room looked tired (worn upholstery for example) and the breakfast room felt like a station buffet. Indeed the breakfast was extremely disappointing considering it is not included in the room rate. If you want to stay centrally in Le Touquet it is still your best choice but very expensive for what you get.

A genteel experience
A hotel full of charm and character whose walls are lined with signed photographs of celebrated guests including Edith Piaf and Edward VII. Check-in was promising without any credit cards or passport numbers taken. Our third-floor room was generous, with a roomy marble bathroom and view over the park. We ate at La Cimais restaurant on two occasions, sampling the à la carte menu and the buffet. The food was excellent and the service impeccable; the buffet is particularly recommended and a chance to try a small portion of those dishes that youd shy away from ordering. We made good use of the swimming pool, although you do have to go down in your dressing gown as there are no changing facilities. The staff are highly professional without being starchy, and the concierges extremely efficient with taxis etc. Two small drawbacks: breakfast is poor value for what is essentially pastries and fruit: the hot selection comprised lukewarm bacon, sausage and scrambled egg every day. Our room was noisy at night with some very vocal passers-by, and the refuse lorry woke us each morning at around 5am. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it.

Probably Le Touquets best hotel.
Beautifully grand hotel with lots of history. Room was idyllic - clean, well serviced, quiet and gorgeous art-deco style modern bathroom. Service was generally excellent and the food in Le Cimaises (the cheaper of the hotels two restaurants) was excellent - probably the best meal weve had for a long time. Perfectly located just off the end of the main shopping street (but still lovely and quiet) we could walk to bars, restaurants and the beach within a few minutes. Refreshingly, the car didnt get used for the 3 days we were there and was left safely in the hotel car park.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
If you want to experience more of a local French atmosphere, then drive 10 minutes back from Le Touquet and go into Etaples.
