Dissapointing

Firstly the positives. Fantastic restaurant and bar staff, absolutely fantastic . Lovely big Clean quiet rooms with British TV stations. 2 Seperate pools (although the photos are deceptive on size) Reasonably priced restaurant with ok food. Cheap bar. Now the not so positives - The reception staff need to be retrained, when asked if there was anywhere to eat nearby we were told no. In truth there are may restaurants a short walk from the hotel. Also we were at a wedding and ordered a taxi to get us, the receptionist advised the journey time at 40 mins (which left us cursing the groom who reccomended this hotel as being quite near) in fact it was only 10 minutes away and we had an unplanned drink before the wedding which was nice, but more time to get ready would have been better. The hotel pool is beside a road which makes it ffeel a little cheap and not the relaxing paradice that you would expect when booking a sun holiday. We only stayed a wkend, if we were staying for a week I would be very dissapointed. Would not stay here again.

A taxi from the airport will cost around 30EURO or a company called resort hoppa will tranport you door to door for 7.50 each way per person. Cheaper for a couple. We would reccomend this company as they were very good.

Excellent hotel for a stay in the Algarve

The Luna Alpinus hotel was an excellent place to stay (although my review may be slightly biased by the fact we got a free room upgrade by mistake!). The apartments were big and well equipped, the pools and loungers were plentiful and in good condition, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast buffet had an excellent selection. Perhaps the only criticisms I could think of would be that the dinner buffet wasn’t inspiring enough to convince us to eat at the hotel and the pool was quite cold. Other than that, it was a truly delightful hotel. In terms of location, I would say this hotel was perfect for families or young couples (like us) but would perhaps be less suitable for groups of young people looking to experience the nightlife of Albufeira. Whilst the transport links by the hotel are excellent, the last bus from Albufeira is around 18.00 making it diffcult to spend the evening there without paying for a taxi. For those looking for a relaxing holiday however, there are lots of nice bars and restaurants around the location, nice places to go for walks and a lovely beach just 15-20 minutes walk away. All in all I found my stay here to be very enjoyable and very good for the money we spent. We would definitely return again.

If you want some cheap but amusing entertainment, then be sure to check out the local bar ’Olympico’, just around the corner from the hotel. The staff are very friendly, the service is excellent and they have a range of entertainers including a welsh guy that sings classics and an awesome Elvis impersonator!

Massive Room

This was a great hotel and was very impressed. Admittedly, I’ve done self catering mainly in Greece so not sure if SC rooms in Portugal are all big, but for two people this room really was enormous and would have comfortably accommodated 4. Both pools were nice although we only used the North pool but there was plenty of space. We were also on the 5th and top floor and so had a great view and also the massive sun terrace was lovely for an evening drink. Walk to the beach was not too far and there was enough about for a quiet weekend that we were looking for. Not too far to Albufeira but more idyllic was going into Olhos D’Agua and having a meal down by the sea. Had a great weekend and the hotel was absolutely brilliant. Would definitely recommend.
