Great Room for the Money

We had reserved a room with 2 double beds, but we arrived late and they placed us in a penthouse suite. The hotel is on the National Historical Register and it is a beautiful, well-kept place. It is on the street that goes to the capitol building and arriving late, the capitol was lit up beautifully. We we very pleased and asked for a late check-out so we could soak up the luxury!

Not to bad

The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was in good shape. The only thing that I had a problem with was the air conditioning. It was horribly loud. Not to mention the cover hiding all of the electrical work to the AC was coming off so every time the air came on it would hit up against the wall.

Not bad at all, but has issues

Pros: The room was pretty nice and very clean. Comfortable bed. Refrigerator. A desk and lamp, in-room internet (no extra fee), good lighting, a large TV in a nice entertainment center with drawers. The room has a decent sized closet with ironing equipment and a safe inside. The bathroom is well apportioned with some antique fixtures and a coffee service on the counter. My room came with an abundance of towels. The staff is friendly and operate the front desk 24hrs a day. Cons: They list room service but its only for a few hours a day; early morning or 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Location: It’s downtown and not in close walking distance to any convenience stores or fastfood. There are some about a quarter mile away but it’s definitely not an area you’ll want to walk around after sundown. Internet went out sporadically the first few days then out completely for 5 days in a row. I could access the equipment and see that someone kept changing the settings and then installing/removing items. Finally the hardline stopped completely and wireless appeared w/o notice but you could only connect after messing around with refreshing some switch settings-- something no-one should be able to get to. I offered to fix it but was simply told (repeatedly) it was going to be fixed momentarily (over 5 days). A single person could have installed and gone live to the entire hotel in a single day, but not them. I only make an issue of the internet because it was the single reason that place was chosen.
