A great hotel for nature lovers.
This hotel is in a very special location, on a lagoon which is full of bird life. The room you get is actually a small apartment with a big balcony and a kitchenette suitable for making breakfast/lunch or simple evening meal. The (outdoor) swimming pool is lovely. Cabanas is a 15 - 20 minute walk, either along the waterside or through housing & hotel developments, and there are lots of really good restaurants there. There are a few bars in Cabanas, 3 of them a bit pubby, but its not really for people who want huge nightlife. The hotel restaurant is not very good, so you would want to walk in to cabanas most of the time. To get to the beach you have to walk to the far end of town and get a boat across, so that wouldnt suit everyone. The nearest boat is now reserved for the other hotel, they no longer let you on it with a Cabanas Park ticket, and you cant simply pay, so be warned - last time we visited you could use the closer service! Its our second visit and we love it.
The rail station (called Conceicao, not Cabanas) is about half an hours walk, with trains up and down the coast from faro to the Spanish border. (check the timetable, there are times when there are gaps in service.) Id recommend Tavira and Olhao to give a flavour of larger Algarve towns without being too touristy, and Ayamonte across the border in Spain for great food and shopping. (you can get a boat over from Vila Real Santo António for a couple of Euros if you dont want to drive.

cabanas park resort would love to go there again!
had a little trouble finding this place as Tavira points in every direction but we didnt mind, the people were lovely, the hotel/apartments were lovely and spacious the grounds were lovely and smart, everything was clean , only 1 problem the pools were fabulous but to cold for us to go into!! some lovely food in the resteraunt in the hotel, and some lovely snack bars along the seafront.... walking distance, loved everything about the place and would love to go back tomorrow if it was possible!!!!
Traveller's tip
its a quiet place with many locals sitting at the snack bars etc, if u want nightlife go elsewhere, its lovely watching the birds and wild life.....just sad to see dogs and cats running wild

Good hotel for nature lovers.
This hotel is great for a quiet, peaceful time with a wide range of wild birds right on your doorstep. Good for exercise - the swimming pool is big enough for a proper swim, and there is a small gym as well. Dont stay here if you want night life and entertainment, although the live music in the restaurant at the weekends was high quality. The interior of the hotel is very well designed, and the rooms well appointed.
Traveller's tip on dining
A 15 minute walk into Cabanos will give you plenty to choose from in terms of restaurants. The food is all Portuguese, some excellent seafood & really nice people. If you like steak, the Bife na Pedra at Restaurant A Fonte in Rua Dr. Jorje Correlia is brilliant. Europa is great for seafood, especially Cataplana, which you can unusually have for just one person here.
