Rather tired
This is a rather tired old hotel in the centre of Pau, with no air conditioning. Free car parking is available for about 20 cars but if that is full guests must use the public car park some distance away. At the time of our visit (August 2007) there were roadworks immediately outside the building. Also the hotel restaurant was closed for several weeks, although breakfast was available. However the staff were friendly and helpful and it makes a satisfactory stopover for one or two nights.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If it is hot then ask for a fan, which are provided free on request. Without this our room was extremely hot and stuffy.

Best Western Continental, Pau - will visit again
Arrived at hotel much earlier than expected - no trouble atall, room was ready. Room was tidy and clean - just what we needed for short stay. Staff were very helpful and although we only had one breakfast in hotel,(missed others because of oversleeping and early start back to airport) it was very nice. Hotel centrally situated, within walking distance of railway, chateau, restaurants, university (20 mins), all on level. No trouble to get to hotel from Pau airport - just exited airport and a taxi rank was outside - journey cost 22 euros. Excellent as there was a taxi space right outside of Hotel. Will definitely use this hotel again.
