Not impressed

Whilst the Hotel was located adjacent to a large shopping mall was a strong point, the most disappointing aspect was the lack of cooked breakfast & limited selection for Dinner. In summary, the food was awful!! If you include the fact that irons were not available even on demand coupled with the non existent albeit advertised room services and lack of airconditioning, then our experience of the Hotel left nothing to be desired.

A Decent Hotel

I spent 2 weeks at this hotel this summer with my GF and we did not have any problems with the hotel at all. The staff on the front desk were fine and answered all of our questions. Location - This is probably the worst aspect of the hotel, it is about 15km away from central Rome, we had to get a Bus and the Metro to get to Termini, which took about 45 minutes overall. Restaurant - The food here was OK, nothing special. They did a tourist meal deal for 15 euros per person which included 3 courses and a drink so that was good. Although the food was quite basic. We thought the breakfast was quite good, a selection of rolls, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, croissants, fruit juice etc. People annoy me when they complain about having a continental breakfast whilst staying in a european hotel...what do you expect when you are in Rome? The pool was quite nice, a bit small but it was nice to have somewhere to relax in the evening. Overall me and my GF had a great holiday in Rome, and the service we received from Cristoforo Columbo was very good. If you don’t mind travelling to get to Rome then this would be a good place to stay. It is by a large shopping centre but there there are not many other hotels/bars around this area so there are positives and negatives to think about.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Anyone who travels into rome from the hotel using the bus/metro its a good idea to buy a weekly pass or a number of daily passes as the shops are not always open during ’working’ hours.

dreadful restaurant

we booked this hotel on the basis of hotels.com reviews, its price and its location (reasonably close to Rome airport). There’s a very attractive picture of the pool area on the website, but it’s a bit misleading -- it doesn’t look anywhere as nice in real life, and the pool closes at 8pm (so you don’t really see it at night). The internet kiosk is expensive, and the hotel entrance is a bit hard to see (between two gas stations). The GPS got us there, but I missed the turn. The real problem was the hotel restaurant, which was truly dreadful (for a Saturday night dinner). While it’s convenient, I’d strongly recommend checking out other places in the area (assuming you have a car).
