Athens Airport

Nice place. Much roomier than the Sofitel with satisfactory amenities (exercise facility, pool), though limited local environment. Very good transportation into Athens with Express bus stop next door. WIth their 4:30AM 10 minute van ride, we comfortably made our 6:20AM flight departure. Also, reasonable pick-up service from the airport, and the airport info desk knew when and where their vans would come. A direct telephone connection would be helpful, though. I’ve seen some complaints about airport accessibility in the reviews and I don’t think they are justified.

I’ve driven in Athens, don’t especially recommend it. Public transport is good and you can walk the main areas.

Don’t count on the shuttle.

If you are expecting the shuttle...DON’T. I waited at the airport for 1-1/2 hours; then tried to call hotel to no avail; then asked personnel at the airport. They said the shuttle was broke down. I called a cab and went to the hotel and asked them about the shuttle. They said I was there too late (I was not); then they changed their story and said they stop running the shuttle early on Saturday. They refused to reimburse my cab fee. When I went back to the airport, it was the same story, excuses and lies. I called a cab again. So, if you are staying at this hotel because of the shuttle service, don’t count on it...just pay the exhoribant cab fee to another hotel.

Not impressed

The shuttle to and from the airport does not work at night which is a little odd for a hotel with so many stars. I arrived around 23:00 called the hotel and was directed to take the express bus or a taxi if i want to get there. The receptionist informed me that internet access will cost me extra, in his words "$6 for each star that the hotel has" which surprised me not to mention the receptionists attitude. And the high point was when the main breaker tripped over night so that when we woke up we had to call the lobby to get someone to troubleshoot the damn breaker.
