Cheap and Cheerful

Wasn’t a bad stay. Found it to be quite cheap and the mini kitchen was useful, except that there’s no oven and the freezer consists of a shelf in the fridge that was covered in ice. Don’t bother using it, it doesn’t keep items frozen (we used it for some Mars ice creams). Bed was comfortable and there were 9 available channels on the small tv, the only English one being BBC World News. There’s one cupboard with space to hang some items on one side and some shelves on the other. There were only 5 available hangars though. Also, the upholstery on the chairs was very old and torn. Overall the room was quite small and lacked some presentability. The bathroom was quite small, with a very small bath, only good enough to stand in and have a shower. My only other moan was that we weren’t at any point told that we had to leave the room with all the kitchen utensils, crockery, etc cleaned. So when we proceeded to check out, we were sent back up to do so, which I felt was very demeaning. Otherwise, if you want a cheap stay with a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre, this will do.

The location of the hotel is quite close to the town centre, 10-15 minute walk, or a 10 minute walk to the nearest tram stop (although pointless as you’re pretty much near the centre by then anyway). Also, 15 minutes away is a large shopping centre with a huge food store to stock up your fridge. The only annoying thing was leaving two beers in the fridge on check out!

Below average

Ridiculous reception hours makes this hotel hard to check into. The chairs in the room were broken and everytime we turned on the taps in the bathroom a very unpleasant smell came out. For a couple, the bed is tiny. Also the location is not great, walk into town was ages away, the walk from the train station is about 50 minutes

Free wireless internet was good

Budget accomodation, walking distance to centre

Good basic hotel. 10 mins to reach commercial centre. Receptionists helpful. Swimming pool if too hot. Rooms small but with everything you’d need for a short stay inculding mini kitchen. Have to pay for parking in a scary underground carpark net to hotel (I got claustrophobic).

Traveller's tip on nightlife
