Wonderful hotel!
Tallinns Old Town is a gem of a place to begin with, and the Meriton Old Town only enhances the experience. This was my second stay here and will certainly plan on staying here again if the opportunity presents itself. The rooms are small (by American standards), but clean, orderly and have all you need. The breakfast (included in the cost of the room) is amazing-- dont skip it. :-) The staff are also extremely courteous and helpful. Also, if you come to Tallinn by ferry, it is a very inexpensive trip by taxi.
Traveller's tip on dining
For dinner, dont miss the opportunity to eat at Olde Hansa! The decor, service, and-- above all-- the food is out of this world. It takes the whole "medieval experience" to a higher level. The singers also add to meal.

Good Value for Money
This hotel is in a great place in the Old Town, less than a 5 minute wander from the Town Hall Square and the other attractions but far enough away to provide peace and tranquility. The hotel is quirky with strange shaped rooms and the reception/cafe incorporates the old wall. It is not a luxury hotel by any means. Cheap and cheerful springs to mind. The twin beds we had were tiny and the bed clothes were not high quality. The shower however was fine and there was plenty of hot water. For a long weekend when you dont want to spend much money and dont plan to spend time in the room then this hotel is for you. The staff were very friendly and helpful particularly when we had trouble with a bus tour.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Beware when buying tickets for the City Bus Tour. We bought 5 24 hr tickets but did not look at them closely. When we did we found that only 3 tickets were valid and the other 2 had completely wrong dates and times on them. Other than that the bus tours are a great way of seeing the town. Give the botannical gardens a miss. Have a meal at Olde Hansa which is an experience all in itself.

Stagging at the Meriton
We went as a Stag Party of six. The hotel was very clean and tidy. The rooms are seriously small, but if what you want is a base to sleep, wash and change then it is ideal. The bar is very small, but is well stocked and the staff and really attentive. The breakfast is standard continental fayre. Youre not going to get a full English, but what do you expect? Theres plenty of of ham, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, cereal, preserves, pancakes etc to fill a hole. The location is fine - just a short walk from the heart of town. When we went (April 09) it was very quiet around the streets, but the clubs were still buzzing. Having been once, probably wouldnt return, but Id recommend it to anyone else, either as a stag venue or just as a weekend away.
Traveller's tip on nightlife
Dont be fooled by some of the websites saying drinks are about a pound. The currency is linked to the Euro so with the current Rate (GBP1 = EUR 1 = EEK 15) the beer prices are similar to those in an English pub. Mind you the clubs charge about the same price and spirits seem a lot cheaper than England and the measures a lot bigger.
