Handy Hotel in Gent’s Old Town
Not the best of service, polite enough, but under staffed. Goodlocation, handy for the old town and 10 min walk to Damport train station. Good value, clean and well maintained. Would definitely go back and is worth checking out.

Pretty good hotel in nice location
This hotel is located very close to most of the main sites in the old part of Gent. If you are expecting a luxury hotel this would not be the place to stay, but if you are expecting an above-average hotel in a good location this one’s a good bet. The lobby is very nice, but the hallways were in need of some cleaning/maintenance. The room was clean and was more modern than many comparably priced Belgian hotels. There is a parking lot in the adjacent square where you can park your car and leave it for your entire stay since all of the main sites are within a short walk. The staff was very friendly. My only complaints are that the bed is comprised of two twin beds pushed together (however, the linens were of very high quality), and that the hotel internet service/computer didn’t work so well. Overall this was a very nice little hotel, that I would recommend.

Nice break
My boyfriend and i enjoyed most of our stay at the River Hotel. The few complaints we had were that when we asked for an ironing board we actually had to collect it from reception, and the service at breakfast was slow and uninformed. It was also expensive for what you got. Other than that the room we stayed in was comfortable and cosy and location wise it was in a quieter part of town but within easy reach of the centre district. We managed to coicide our trip with a local festival which made the trip a little bit more exciting even if there were people outside our room at 8 in the morning with a large forklift!
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
Eat breakfast at one of many little cafes around the town. Much cheaper than eating at the hotel.
