Oh for a lift!
As the bedrooms were on the third floor, I looked for a lift. No chance - it’s ’shank’s pony’ to get up the metal stairs. The rooms could do with air-conditioning - my room was neat and tidy and boliing. The hotel is fairly conveniently situated for trips into Riga - the number 5 tram stops outside ( there and back) and takes you directly to the centre for about 60p. (Pay the driver or buy a pack of tickets in town - a taxi costs about £10 ) At 6.30 pm on the first evening, I went to the dining room as we were told that they stopped serving at 7.00 pm. I was told, after a long wait, that the kitchen was closed. so it was off into town for a meal.
The Lido is extremely good value with a wide range of foods.

N B Riga Ok
cheap and cheerful hotel although I found Riga a bit depressing,people don’t know how to smile. drink was cheap and only a 30p tram ride from city centre,food in hotel was good and worth a try but fri and sat they cater for weddings so no dinner

Nice Hotel
We stayed at this hotel in June 2007 and had a comfortable stay. Would recommend hotel to others.
Traveller's tip
Riga is an interesting place to visit and beer choice wide and good. Taxi costs from Old Town in Riga were very expensive indeed. Buses and Trams good value though.
