Great bargain, great location.
A friend and I recently took a trip through Eastern Europe and Prague was our first stop. I chose the hotel due to great reviews and for the price. The service is excellent; the hotel arranged a taxi for us due to what I had read about certain taxis overcharging in Prague. The hotel is in a great location right in the best part of Prague and there is a small cafe next door to the hotel for breakfast. The only negative thing I can think of is that we had a loft room and the bedroom was up a very steep ladder, which was fine for us but may not be that easy to maneuver for someone with a disability. Otherwise, great hotel!

Great location, gem of a place
The Residence Retezova ticks all the boxes one would need from a city break. It is just minutes walk from most of the toursit attractions (with the exception of the castle) and so is ideal for exploring the vicinity. During our stay we had no problems with noise, which had been mentioned in previous reviews. We stayed in the singapore room which was one of the loft rooms. The room itself was quite small especially if you were intending to use the kitchenette area and dine in but we never did. The bed is accessed by a very steep set of stairs (almost a ladder really). This may put some people off but we found it quite quirky in a good way. The staff were very pleasant and allowed us to check in prior to the official check in time and were always cheerful when we passed through the reception area. If i was going to nitpick then the safe in the room had no operating instructions and it took the guy on reception quite a while to figure it out too. At what point our passports and currency were locked in and we couldn’t get the door to open at all! The problem was resolved soon enough though and if that is the only quibble then that must be a testament to what a cracking little place this is. Would stay there again and recommend anyone to do the same.
Traveller's tip on dining
There is a good vegetarian restaurant called Country life just a couple of streets from Retezova. It is very cheap. You just pile food on your plate and then the lady at the till weighs it and you pay per 100g. Two of us ate for around six pounds. All fresh home cooked food. I am a carnivore by nature and even I enjoyed it.
