It was ok
Considering the competition, it was fine. As expected, quite bland. Room was big though, and amazing double glazing cut the traffic noise almost completely. It’s a short and pleasant walk up to the funicular so that wasn’t a problem, and nice to not have to carry bags far from the station.
The view from la Rocca up in the old city. Amazing and lovely at night too.

Ideally situated for Citta Bassa
The Mercure Bergamo Palazzo Dolci is ideally situated in the Citta Bassa close to the railway and bus stations and shops. It is clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. As it is part of a chain it doesn’t have the character of the Citta Alta hotels but we have returned to it for a second time this year as it serves all of our needs. During our second stay a maintenance guy came fairly late one evening to repair the loo roll holder, which I found a little strange, and one lift was out of action for all of our stay, but overall the hotel is very smart.

Take the airport bus (1) or 1c out to the Orio al Serio hypermarket for a great selection of shops.

Extremely central location
My wife and I stayed in this hotel in September 2009 for 1 night and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were extremely helpful. The room was very clean and roomy although a little bit too blue for my taste! Bathroom was lovely also. We would definitely stay there again. It was very central to visit the old medieval town.
