Absolutely the BEST place to stay in Santa Barbara
The Harbor House Inn is, by far, our favorite Santa Barbara destination. My wife and I have stayed at other, more expensive places, but have found that nothing evens comes close to the Harbor House. It is a small, personal place to stay. There are about 10 rooms in the older section, near the office; each room is unique and cozy. The Owner, Karen, treats everyone like family. Next door to the older section are six casitas; more like studio apartments, with full kitchens and large bathrooms. The casitas are very private and are also individually decorated. The beach is a short block away; the pier is about 4 blocks away. When we go to the Harbor House, we really enjoy taking a couple of the bicycles that Karen has for guests and riding around the area. All of the staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. Just so you all know, I hesitated to write this review because wed like to keep the Harbor House our little secret place; if you stay there, Im sure youll feel the same way we do, but, dont tell anyone; I dont want too many people to know about this place. Thanks.
I would recommend two places for breakfast or lunch. One is the Beachside Cafe, which is on State Street, just north of the freeway. The dishes are all delicious; try the eggs benedict. The other place for a reasonably-priced breakfast is the East Beach Cafe. On the beach; outside seating; very good food; good prices; friendly staff.

Go There
Fantastic base to see Santa Barbara, very close to the pier and beach and a short walk to State Street where there is a wealth of restaurants. The Inn has beach equipment and bikes that can be used free of charge. We were upgraded and our King Size room was a large suite with kitchen and welcome food basket, excellent.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The bus tour is cheap and informative. Whale watching trips go from the marina.
