OK if the price is right

stayed at this hotel based on recommendation from " Gwenyth Paltrow’s book on travel /food review in Spain". The hotel is not bad except the price is crazily high because 1) it was during the middle of the week , 2) there’s got to be some sort of convention going on in town . Apparently when booking in Spain, it is better to book a resort during the week, and a hotel in the city during the weekend . This way you get the better pricing for each type of hotels. Another point is that this hotel is in the middle of "the Broadway of New York", which is really really busy and middle scale. It’s quiet inside of the hotel , but the minute you walk outside it is hectic.

Beware of scaffolds!

most of Madrid is under renovation or construction & most of the main road ways are ripped up right now. This was also the case of the hotel, which was partially under renovation making access awkward. Otherwise, it was a cool, clean palce & the roof bar was perfect! Also, very well located fro the Prado, other museums & shopping

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Use the metro! it was easy to use & very helpful since many streets were under construction. PS best resturants - BOTIN (yes, you might get the curly tail on your plate) & NINA, a update on some spanish favorites in a very cool setting

Already booked to go back

This hotel was amazing, the location and facilities and service were by far the best I have experienced. The roof terrace bar was the best way to start any evening in Madird.

Traveller's tip on dining

Always find a back street bar with a set menu for a 3 course dinner around 2.30pm, then have a nap, wake up, go out and party. Check out the insane party district of La Latina.
