Fantastic hotel for families
I wanted a nice hotel in Barcelona - one that offered family rooms, with a pool and not too far to the centre ... that’s exactly what I found in Hotel Acevi Villarroel! I was slightly concerned about the location as previous reviews said it was "quite a way out" and I am not a fan of metro’s - it took us 20 mins to walk to the Place De Catalunya with 2 children (5 and 8) so not too far and could probably be done in 10 mins without children. The rooms were very spacious and clean - the children loved having their own room with their own TV and bathroom! We faced out the back so no night-time noise. The reception staff were pleasant enough, spoke good english. The restaurant/bar was quiet, and as someone else stated, limited choice for children. We had breakfast at a little bakery just down the street on the opposite side (2mins away). The only (very minor!) negative comment I would make is the corridors are very dark which I found a bit off-putting. Overall - 10/10 for a family hotel.

Nice rooms nice hotel service could have been better
This hotel is clean, modern and well located. We had a nice big, clean room. I would recommend a high floor or room away from the street as the ambulance sirens go through the night. I was only disappointed with service. I rang for an Iron & board and was told they don’t offer that - first time I have stayed in a hotel without an iron! Receptionist was unhelpful and unfriendly & we were eventually late as a result. Otherwise I would gladly recommend this hotel.
Book a high floor as the ambulance sirens go all night and bring your own iron!

A wonderful stay
The hotel was very clean and "new" feeling. Close enough to walk to most tourist attractions, close to the metro station. We didn’t eat in the restaurant at the hotel but it looked wonderful (maybe not suited for kids re: menu choices, but room service had a good menu more suitable for children) The pool was very clean, and nice to sit at. It may seem too far from night life (La Rambla...15 minute walk)if that is what you are looking for. The hotel arranged for a taxi to get us to the airport, which is only about 10 mins. away) I would definitely recommend it.
We took the metro to get around, fairly easy to find what you are looking for. Seemed safe and clean enough. Definitely see Sagrada Familia!
