Spa and Sauna in Sheffield - Cool

Great room for the money
Given I travel all the time I stay in a lot of hotels. This one was by far one of the best hotels I have stayed in the UK in my last 3-4 trips. Some negatives: The boiler was broken; even though I got lucky; my two collegues had to take a shower with freezing cold water and the hotel did not even apologize or did anyhing to compensate for this which was a bit dissapointing to see. The bathroom floor did not seem like it was cleaned after the previous guest who stayed in my room. There was hair and other stuff that was not pleasent to see. Given in the US we are so spoiled to have free internet at the hotels we stay, it was a bummer to see that they charge 15 pounds for the internet for just ONE day! Other than these the rooms were quiet, comfortable, the sheets and towels were clean. Although our room rate did not include breakfast we had breakfast the next day and I would say for 8 pounds it was OK. Overall I think this hotel was a good deal for the money and I would stay there again.

A disappointing first visit
This was the first time that I had stayed at the Sheffield Park, which was suggested by someone who knew where I would be working in Sheffield. On the first night of two, there was no hot water in mine or several other guests rooms. This was most annoying after a five hour drive and was compounded by a member of staff saying that I just needed to run both taps for five minutes which was clearly not the case. On my second night I waited 30 minutes for a starter -I was the only person in the restaurant and there were four staff, not incuding the kitchen staff! The reception on the TV in the bar was dreadful and most annoying for those of us watching the England football match. To add to my woes the bed was uncomfortable and the food over-priced. On the positive side, most staff were very courteous and tried to be helpful. I have more business in Sheffield but won’t be staying at the Sheffield Park Hotel again.
Don’t take too much heed of star ratings!
