The location leaves something to be desired
This is a charming old hotel, the staff are courteous and pleasant, everything was immaculately clean, and the room was spacious, tastefully furnished, and very light and airy. The only downside to this hotel is the location. The hotel fronts on a busy arterial, so the street noise is considerable, even into the late hours of the night. Indeed, the hotel even provides earplugs by the beds. The street noise problem is exacerbated by the fact that, like most European hotels, there is no air conditioning, so, during the hottest summer months, you have to keep the windows open to keep cool. It should also be noted that this hotel is located in a more outlying, predominantly residential neighborhood. There is little to see or do within easy walking distance of the hotel and almost no restaurants at which to dine other than the one in the hotel itself (which looks quite good, but is typically pricey as hotel restaurants are apt to be). All in all, there is much that is positive to be said for this hotel, but the location presents challenges which may not be to everyones liking.

Great price for the room
Stayed at the hotel in June, had a 6 year old that enjoyed racing up the stairs, easy if you are on the younger side, but not recommended for the elderly, no elevators. The rooms were great for the price. Did not notice too much noise. Restaurant is on the first floor and the hotel rooms (3 floors) are above it. Very friendly staff, spoke english. When we got there a waiter asked my name and handed me the key and direction on getting to our room, a side door that bypasses the restaurant to get to the rooms. The continental breakfast was good with enough variety for most people. Small bathroom, as expected. As earlier commenter mentioned, parking can be an issue. Mostly we drove around but there are stores within walking distance for basic items including groceries. Next time in Heidelberg I will go there again.
