a most beautiful hotel
The hotel is a delightful place with art deco style decor. It has a fabulouse colour scheme that is tastefully done. the room we had was 312 and it was lovely, a familly room with large double ( maybe King) and a single. The room is decorated very nicely and has a sea view! perfect. The dinner was very good too especally with the champaigne cocktales to have whilst looking over the menu! very resonably priced too. Breakfast was a very fresh buffet of fresh fruit, selection of juice, cerials, meats, and then you helped yourself to cooked breakfast! very freshly prepared and being topped up as and when depleated. coffee was served at your table and the pot is never empty! on checking in and out the staff were polite and even the guy polishing the brass hand rail from top floor to reception was very pleant and it was good to see every small detail was addressed! the smell of the brasso reminded me of my childhood. i have already recomended this hotel to many of my friends and will be definately rebooking as it is one of the best i have stayed in. relax and enjoy with confidence the Cumberland.

Well, not quite Art Deco
They try to be but they are not really there. The staff in the bar and restaurant need to get their programs straight...in 1 you need to present your room key, in another you need to present this silly little piece of paper saying you are a hotel guest. I had to explain basic drinks to them (bourbon and ginger ale)..the rooms are fine...small but comfortable..the towels are thin and they put out few. The food was okay...far from great.
Traveller's tip for business travellers
I have now stayed in 3 hotels in Bournemouth...the Cumberland, Royal Bath and Ramada. Though the Ramada is off beach...it ws the better of the 3 in terms of room size and general feel. If the beach is not your most important thing there..that is the place to stay.

Disappointment
The renovation of this hotel has been somewhat patchy. The public areas are nice but our room was not renovated and looked tired. The beds were very sparse with thin scratchy sheets. However the worst aspect of all was the food. We ate in the main restaurant and the food was appalling. I have never eaten such a bad meal! We had such a miserable time that we left early and will never be going back!
Stay anywhere but here
