Spa Rooms are great

We book the regular room but was upgraded to the SPa room. We thought cool, but no big deal, right? We were wrong!! Those rooms are way cool and I think we agreed the coolest room we ever stayed in! There were so many good things about the room including the three Hot tubs! We used the big one behind the bed everyday just to relax before heading out to dinner. There is also an in room Sauna and the hotel provides all the wellness muds and serums at no charge. We are coffee drinkers and the hotel also provides an expresso machine for free and was another nice thing to sit on the large terrance and have a coffee every day. There are also other great hotel amenities like the full gym, yoga classes and several pools. The only thing that kept this from being perfect rating to us was the Breakfast staff and food. The breakfast provided was not the best quality, but it seems if you got the all inclusive package they would provide you a better selection and fresh food.

Traveller's tip on shopping

Really close to a lot of shopping and restaurants.

Dissapointing service.

The lobby is the coolest indoor area of the hotel! Forget about using the air conditioning - it’s useless. We found it better to open the window/door! The reception staff are grumpy and unhelpful. We arrived at about 9.00 pm and were finally served after 15 minutes, by the only receptionist in the lobby, who had been looking at the internet computer (that I’m on now!) with another guest, trying to work out why it wasn’t working. He failed! He wasn’t attentive or apologetic and didn’t explain anything about the hotel. As we walked to the lift, he called us back, so he could rectify a mistake that he’d made - again, no apology! We had booked a garden view room, but were given a concrete block view, but it did have a spacious balcony with a hot tub - that didn’t work properly! I am surprised that it is rated a 5*. It is a kind of time-share hotel as we found to our slight disappointment. We were given a couple of free spa vouchers in turn for a 3.5 hour presentation from a friendly salesman regarding the ’fraction-share’ available at the hotel. We were told that it would be approximately 1 hour! We enjoyed the empty spa sessions though. The ’members’ appear to get good service, but it’s probably best not to come here as a ’normal’ civilian, as we appeared to be an annoyance to the staff! The breakfast was great and the waiter/waitresses were very attentive and friendly

Traveller's tip on dining

Go to the Hard rock Cafe at ’The Waterfront’. Great service in a good setting.

Not such a big deal

As a tour guide put it "Malta’s most luxurious hotel" I would say it was standard in comparison to any other 4* even although it is rated 5*. The Spa has numerous treatment options well worth a visit. The main pool for the hotel only seems to get the sun part of the day so in late May even although the temperature is in the low 30s the pool is still very cold. On the up side the staff were very friendly and helpful.

All UK High Street shops a few hundred yards from hotel but expensive.
