The Zetter

The 4-star Zetter Hotel has 59 bedrooms, including 7 rooftop studios with patios and views of the London skyline. The rooms have all been individually designed to offer style, comfort and personality - focusing on the essentials: a great bed, a superb shower and cutting edge in-room entertainment.Opened in March 2004 in the heart of one of Londonā??s most exciting neighbourhoods, Clerkenwell. Housed in a converted 19th century warehouse, its central location between the City and the West End, makes it convenient for business guests and tourists alikeThe Zetter is a hotel with an environmental conscience, and was built and designed using sustainable materials and energy efficient principles. The buildingā??s five storey semi-elliptical atrium allows light to flood into the building naturally, rather than artificially, as is the norm. The hotel also has its own borehole drilled directly below the building, allowing it to tap into the large water reserves trapped in the chalk strata under London. This supply is not only used to heat and air condition the hotel, but is purified for both mains and for the bottled drinking water that is served in our restaurant and bedrooms. In recognition of this, The Zetter won two European Hotel Design Awards in 2004 for Best New Hotel and Best Design Innovation.

Unnecassary noise in a funky hotel

Despite good reviews about this hotel stating how good the decor and gadgets were, and the "relatively" good price, we were overall slightly dissapointed by certain aspects. Yes, the gadgets in the room were great, but there was a loud hum from both the pc running the tv/musci/internet and from the shower fan that could not be turned off. The towel rail was on permenantly (the hotel’s supposed to be green!) and the open windows allowed in too much noise too, so the only way to cool the room was the A/C, which was noisy and had a minimum temp of 19 - too warm in a room constantly heated by a PC fan and towel rail!! The milk in the corridor for the free coffee was curdled (almost yoghurt!) and not changed in the 3 days we were there. The Restaurant was good, and the staff friendly, though there was no apology for the false fire alarm at 4 in the morning! The area has got great bars and pubs, and its a short walk to Farringdon. I would go back, but with ear plugs and my own milk!
