quiet hotel in Florence suburbs

Beautiful old villa about 10 minutes on bus from centre of Florence. Plenty of local restaurants. Much better than the busy city centre hotels. The new owner is refurbishing the rooms which are beatiful but have some minor annoying features - e.g wardrobe door stuck

Lots of good local restuarants within 10 mins walk

Out of town basic location

Hotel lacks facilities. No bar, no guest lounge, no resturant. Need to walk (40 minutes) into town for anything. Road give more traffic noise than you would expect for a small out of town location. Basic breakfast.

Great

A bit outside of the center, but easily walkable. First class hotel, great service, friendly and competent staff. Great suggestions for dinner. Would absolutely return. Ask for room facing courtyard.

Deluxe suite is extremely spacious for Italy!

I loved this villa. It was like a bed & breakfast. We got a room for 3 people that was huge by European standards. The bathroom was also huge, especially the shower. Very clean, friendly, and excellent breakfast included. Good location also. Would definitely recommend.

Location Not Ideal

The hotel was very clean and comfortable, however, the location was too far from downtown Florence. In addition, there was so much traffic outside of the hotel and there was some type of construction going on all night, so a quiet and peaceful rest was not possible! I would not stay here again.

Great style

The hotel has a style not found in large chains as it is impossible for any large hotel to emulate with paid employees. The rooms are large with high ceilings and have elegent furnishings, whilst the bathroom is very large with a shower five times larger than anything I have previously used. The owner and staff are nice people who you can trust when they make a suggestion when either touring or looking for a place to eat.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Orientate yourself using the railway station and you will find that all the places to visit are within easy walking distance from the hotel

Wonderful Place

My girlfriend and I stayed at Relais Villa Antea for 3 nights over the Easter break and absolutely loved it. The rooms are gorgeous, especially the marble bathrooms with walk in showers. But the best aspect of our stay was the friendliness of the staff - extremely helpful and generous. If we’re lucky enough to visit beautiful Florence again we wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Hire a car and drive around the surrounding countryside - should definitely visit the stunning towns of Siena and San Gimignano. Great wines and you must try the roast pork with crackling!

Wonderful home for a week

Lovely residential neighborhood location. Excellent "home base" for a stay of a week or more. We had two large, immaculate rooms with hardwood floors, period furnishings and great mattresses. The modern bathrooms were huge. The heated towel ladder is perfect for drying hand-washed items. Full breakfast included. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful (tours, reservations, etc). About one mile walk to Piazza della Signoria.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Stay at least a few days in Firenza! It has so much to offer and is one of the most charming towns you will ever visit. If you are traveling during peak tourist times, definitely have the hotel make reservations for the popular museums (e.g., Uffizi, Accademia). Worth the few Euros more for the convenience.

Absolutley perfect choice for our anniversary break

The place was beautiful, a big 19th century villa classically decorated with lots of charm, elegance and original paintings. Our room was very clean, modern with high ceilings and enormous windows opening to smell of lush greenery and the sound of birds singing. We were just out the centre (about a 15 min walk or 5 minute bus ride) it was better to do this in order to get a real taste of florentine life. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly, they went the extra mile to make my visit magical. My visit to Florence was to propose marriage to my girlfriend and they helped me in the organisation of flowers, restuarant booking, location ideas and so on it was very grateful and without their help I would have struggled to find the hidden gems the city holds. It was our first time in Florence and as everybody does I’m sure, we fell in love with the city instantly. We will be back without a doubt.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I recommend this place for romantic couples. Visit Fiesole, the vistas are incredible and place is a little gem ideal for a day out. I proposed here on a hill overlooking the city and it was for me the perfect place to do so.

Beautiful and Friendly - Superb!

Florence is a fantastic place and it really made our honeymoon wonderful to be able to go back each night to this tiny, beautiful, friendly hotel each night. The room was opulent and the bathroom was almost shockingly big with interesting gadgets! The staff were incredibly helpful and we felt very sorry to say goodbye at the end of our stay. I’ve never stayed in a hotel I’d recommend more.

Traveller's tip on dining

It is essential to get recommendations or use guide book for restaurants - most of the overly touristy restaurants are terrible - avoid any "menu touristique" at all costs.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful break.

You feel like Florentine royalty at this hotel. It’s simply stunning. The rooms are spacious, yet inviting, comfortable and stylish. Staff spoke great English and recommended some fantastic restaurants. Why can’t there be a Relais Villa Antea in every city?

Traveller's tip on local attractions

If you want to go the Uffitzi - book ahead!

The villa was a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Our delux room was wonderful and we didnt want to leave. The shower room was so big and inviting. Our stay was perfect. We would love to go back. Breakfast was also a delight. Staff very helpful. Overal a really grand building.

Dont be afraid to bargain with the markets stalls sellers. Always go with recommended resturants.

Relais Villa Antea

Very good hotel. Small and relaxing. Good standard with helpfull staff and managment. Clean large rooms with charactor. Just what we wanted for our weekend break. A 15 minute walk to the city centre for buses, but we enjoyed the walk into this fabulous city and it felt very safe at night to walk back. So overall a very sucsesfull weekend. Thank you.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Go early in the year so that you do not spend your weekend queuing and eat in the side sreets if you wish still to have good quality meal but at a lot lower price. We ate in the square so as to be part of the atmospher. Very enjoyable and good food.

Beautiful place! Will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful place! Staff was wonderful and service was excellent and friendly. Breakfast every day was delicious. Things to note: Hotel may be a little far from center of town depending on your willingness or not to walk, but still definitely a manageable distance. Also, internet access is not free, it’s charged by the hour. Honestly, I can’t say enough about how gorgeous this place was and how well it was renovated. The bathrooms were huge! This place is a *great* value for the money; it’s like Florence’s best-kept secret. When I come back to Florence, I would definitely love to stay here again.

Recommended in Florence

This is a small hotel but offers large, sumptuously furbished rooms (suite sized) and first class bathroom facilities. Slightly off the "beaten track" but easy & interesting walk to all of the city’s attractions. Limited but friendly reception facilities (up to 20.00 only). Good breakfast but no other restaurant or bar facilities(ask for list of local recommendations). We really liked this hotel for it’s elegant rooms & comfort but lack of room service (wine is available but not food)is a problem if you want to stay in for a night to relax & enjoy the ambience. Good for couples but do not think it would be suitable for families.

Traveller's tip on dining

If arriving late, ensure you have eaten or be prepared to have to follow hotel recommendation for local restaurant & walk.

We were very impressed

Our room was clean and nicely laid out. My little niece enjoyed playing in the back garden. May I however suggest that the breakfast buffet should be a little more extensive. Will certain stay here again.

beautiful villa

our 5 night stay in this wonderful city was made even more enjoyable by staying in such a beautiful villa in a more quiet part of the city. Lovely large room, huge bed and big bathroom. A bus on the same road took us to the main tourist area but mostly we walked as it only took 15 minutes to get to the tourist area or 30 minutes to get to the ponte vecchio.
