Nice affordable hotel

Mentari is a nice hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are clean with A/C en TV. The swimming pool is big enough for some refreshing / swimming. The hotel is at about 250m from the beach. The small road to the hotel is a little dark en dirty though. The restaurant is okay but not that great. The staff likes to stay in the kitchen instead of the restaurant. Overall, it’s a nice play to stay if you go to another restaurant now and then.

Traveller's tip on recreational activities

Go diving (or snorkeling) at Nusa Penida (Manta Point and Chrystal Point) to see very big Manta Rays (4m) or Mola Mola fish (4m)

Will definitly return!!

We arrived very late at the hotel as our plane only got in around 2 AM. Sadly, I had only made reservations for the night after since we thought we’d be coming in later the following day. However, the hotel staff was extremly helpfull as they helped us find another hotel at a cheaper price and even went all the way to bring us there since it was very late. The next day we returned and checked in to room at the mentari. The atmosphere is beautiful and the staff at the restaurant were extremely friendly! we also enjoyed the 24h00 pool! The room was very clean and we loved the high ceilings! The bathroom was a bit dirty but it wasn’t a big problem! We loved our stay and we would definitly return!

Metari Sanur Bali OK

Room was worn, but relatively clean by Bali standards. Staff was friendly and helpful. Indonesian breakfast (free) was good. Overall decent value, and a good choice for first few days in Sanur. Covenient to reserve by internet.

Traveller's tip on dining

Some very good food stalls selling local food (cheap) along boardwalk, North of main center.

As advertised

Decent hotel in good location. Friendly staff, nice, but somewhat dated amenities, price reflects well what you receive in return.

Comfortable

The Hotel room was comfortable, sufficient space, tv, closet, hot water and a wireless connection. Walking distance to beach. Hotel staff were very friendly and the on site restaurant was fine.

I am very pleased that I returned to the Mentari Sanur

This was my third visit to Bali and I am very pleased that I returned to the hotel that I first stayed in. The quality of this moderately priced hotel very good. The service was exceptional and yet non invasive. It’s location ( closeness to the beach) and relationship with the local village like community of Sanur was idiyllic.

The variety of activities available close to the hotel is unbeatable especially if you don’t want to pay tourist prices of Kuta.

Excellent

I had read reviews about this hotel before I went and was aware of the less than impressive alley you have to go down to get to the hotel but it is worth it! The only noise you get whilst lounging by their lovely pool is people playing tennis over the wall. The staff are very helpful and friendly, you just need to ask! The hotel restaurant is pricey but it’s 10 minutes walk from cheaper restaurants on the beach. Sanur is a quiet area (especially when we went in November) which suited me perfectly and a 30 minute taxi (or bemo) ride to Kuta so we weren’t too far away from the proper tourist madness! Would definately go back!

Small, quiet, but very nice

The hotel is nice, with an entry main office building, a open air restaurant building, and 2 buildings with rooms, where 1/2 the rooms are 2nd floor (up stairs no elevator). A nice little pool is tucked in between the restaurant and the rear building. The rooms are spartan, but clean, and maintained. Twin beds or a king (combined twins), and built in closet/dresser/desk furniture. Only one extra outlet in the room the others supply the lights and small TV (with only local channels). Bathroom with toilet and shower. The food was very good for the most part, all the indonesian dishes were great. Just skip the pizza (made with ketchup). The Mentari Sanur is located in an alley way (small street) opposite the entrance to the Inara Grand Bali. Taxi driver from the airport had trouble finding it, having to call several friends to get directions. This is at the north end of the Sanur beach area, which seems to be going down hill a little due to the beach errosion.

Good low budget option for exploring Bali

I booked this hotel as was scuba diving in Bali. As this was my first time to the island I did not know what to expect. My expectations were not high as the price paid was low compared to other Bali hotels. I was however pleasantly suprised. The hotel had friendly staff and the room was clean. The large bed was very comfortable and the aircon unit did not keep me awake at nights. I ate at the restaurant on one occasion and the food was reasonable. The downside to this hotel was the location. It was located in the middle of a dark alley. I found this a bit intimidating at night walking to the street but discovered it was safe. Also there were not many amenties close by. I ate at the Jazz Grill cafe (good food and service) which was about 5 minutes walk away. Overall I would say this is a good low budget hotel. It served as a good base to tour round Bali. Stay away if you are looking for party central.

Chill & Relax

The hotel itself is small, but easy to adopt as home for our 3 weeks. With the pool right at the room door, in a well tended garden with beautiful colour, stretching back from reception, past the open air restaurant area, it felt a safe oasis, not that there was any need to feel otherwise. First stop was the Pudak Spa across the Lane from the hotel and they were so good I visited everyday. Such luxury. At first the location appears a bit out of the way, but out on the road there are plenty taxis and people to help, it suited us perfectly a short wander to the beach area with cafes, restaurants, small shops & stalls. People are so friendly that by the time we left we felt local.

Traveller's tip on dining

a min to the end of the lane or along the beach for 10mins to 2 hours walk and there are eateries all the way. Tops is the Beach Cafe with excellent service, switched on staff, beautiful presentation, open view kitchen, beach tables and imported wine. 30min walk to clear the excesses. Others, La Taverna - the best pizza ever; Benos cafe; Lazumba Coffee Shop; for a local bar the Sunrise CafeBar with live reggae and next to that the Moonlight Bar all friendly people to stop along on your way home

Mentari Sanur Hotel

This hotel is a fantastic place to base you to experience Bali. The staff are friendly helpful and great assets to the hotel. Because the hotel only has 28 rooms, you pretty much have your own private pool. When you arrive at this hotel don’t feel deflated that you have just come off a busy road, passed MacDonalds and Dunky Doughnuts and now heading down an alley, and think what have you done. When you see the entrance to the hotel you will see all is fine. The gardens are amazing and constantly being groomed. You can not hear the road and never did I smell fast food! The rooms are basic and no English speaking TV channels, but they are clean with air con and really how long do you plan to stay in your room when you are on holiday!! - Take your own hair dryer Give you 3 days before the music at breakfast gets into your head but all very nice and plenty of food to start the day! The beach is 2 minute walk and there are many bars and restaurants to explore, either walking or a 2 minute ride in a bemer - Local transport that costs you 30p! Green camper style bus. I would happily stay here again and I know people who were on there 4 visits to the hotel ! This is for anyone who wants to stay someone where safe, clean , personal and not hurt the purse afterall you will want to spend you mone yinthe markets and touring the Island!!

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Recommend a meal in the Bonsai - 30 mins walk from Hotel 2 minutes in car. Another Mings. Have to book in advance, food amazing, service is 5* Expensive if you are comparing your normal meal in Bali of three pound. Value for money Habitat restaurant and bar top of the hotel drive way Very friendly staff who go out of their way to ensure you have a good stay, fantastic customer service. Even drove us to another restaurant as our ride did not arrive. You dont get that in the UK!
