Places to go

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This park, aka the Impenetrable Forest, covers 331 sq km (128 sq mi) and is home to 320 of the world's known mountain gorillas. Penetrating the Impenetrable Forest is no picnic, as the terrain is steep and the foliage unforgiving, but all your hardships will be forgotten in an instant with the first glimpse of the gorillas in their mountain kingdom.
Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
on the Fort Portal-Kamwenge-Mbarara road
The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a community tourism project established to protect the Magombe Swamp, which sounds uninviting but is actually a haven for over 137 species of bird. Guided walks depart from the visitors centre on demand and take about three hours.
Sipi Falls
Sensational Sipi Falls comprises three tiers, but the iconic lower one drops straight over a sheer cliff and makes for quite a sight. Guides are easy to arrange for short hikes around the falls, and are worthwhile because some of the trails are not well marked.
