Kos Town Holidays, Greece

Cosmopolitan Kos Town is the island's capital and main port. Popular with European couples and families with children, it offers a 14th-century castle, palm-lined seafront promenade, large yachting marina, classy restaurants, lively nightlife and good shopping. Excursion boats shuttle day-trippers to the nearby sponge-diving island of Kalymnos, and to Bodrum in Turkey.

Mastichari Holidays, Greece

On Kos' north coast, five kilometres from the airport, Mastichari is relatively cheap and less commercial than Kos' other resorts, although it is expanding. Ideal for families looking for relaxation, it offers a decent sand beach lined with sunloungers and backed by bars and tavernas. The nearby Lido Water Park has a large wave pool, lazy river and giant slides. Regular daily ferries connect Mastichari with the sponge-diving island of Kalymnos.

Tingaki Holidays, Greece

On Kos' flat north coast, this peaceful resort lies 12 kilometres west of Kos Town. The long beach has fine golden sand backed by dunes and offers water sports, notably windsurfing. Part of the beach is reserved for nudists. Facilities include several small, reasonably priced hotels, traditional Greek tavernas and low-key bars. The nearby salt marsh attracts migrating birds such as flamingos. Excursion boats run to the nearby island of Pserimos.
