Air: International airports: Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) (website: www.cvgairport.com) is 19km (12 miles) southwest of the city centre (travel time – 15 minutes). In addition to the national carriers, Comair, a Cincinnati-based regional airline, offers flights. Air France and Delta Air Lines both offer non-stop services to Paris, France (travel time - eight hours). TANK public buses (website: www.tankbus.org) run between the airport and downtown Cincinnati and Covington daily (0500-0000; travel time - 30 minutes); buses stop outside Terminals 1 and 3. Airport Executive Shuttle buses serve the city centre and the Kentucky side of the river; drop-offs at various points en route can be arranged. Taxis, limousine services and car hire from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, National and Thrifty are also available.
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) (website: www.clevelandairport.com) is 18km (10 miles) southwest of the city centre (travel time – 20 minutes). The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) offers a rapid transit service departing every 15 minutes between the airport and Tower City Center (travel time – 20 minutes), where connections to other bus and rail services are available. Taxis, limousines and car hire (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty) are also available.
Port Columbus International Airport (CMH) (website: www.port-columbus.com) is located 11km (7 miles) northeast of downtown Columbus. Taxis, limousines and shuttle buses to the city centre are available, as is the Capital City Flyer bus, operated by Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA).


Approximate flight times: From Cincinnati to London is nine hours, to New York is one hour 30 minutes, to Los Angeles is four hours 15 minutes, to Miami is two hours 15 minutes, and to Washington, DC is one hour.
From Cleveland to Cincinnati is one hour 15 minutes, and to New York is one hour 40 minutes.


River: There are over 1600km (1000 miles) of canals in Ohio and there are many canal boat excursions available.

Rail: A number of Amtrak (tel: (800) 872 7245 (toll-free); website: www.amtrak.com) services run west–east across the State, emanating from Chicago. The line through Toledo splits at Cleveland, with one line travelling to New York City and Boston (via Buffalo) and the other passing through Pittsburgh en route to Washington, DC or Philadelphia and New York City. A parallel line from Chicago to Pittsburgh passes through Akron daily. The Chicago to Washington, DC service via Indianapolis and Cincinnati only runs three days a week. Road: Bus: Greyhound (tel: (800) 229 9424 (toll-free); website: www.greyhound.com) offers services throughout the State.

Approximate bus travel times: From Cincinnati to Louisville is two hours, to Columbus is two hours, to Indianapolis is two hours 30 minutes, to Cleveland is five hours, to Detroit is six hours, to Pittsburgh is six hours, to Knoxville is six hours 30 minutes, to Chicago is seven hours, to St Louis is eight hours, to Atlanta is 12 hours, to Washington, DC is 12 hours, and to New York is 15 hours.
From Cleveland to Pittsburgh is three hours, to Detroit is four hours, to Buffalo is four hours, to Toronto is seven hours, to Chicago is seven hours 30 minutes, to Washington, DC is nine hours, and to New York is nine hours 30 minutes.
From Columbus to Cleveland is three hours, to Pittsburgh is four hours, to Indianapolis is four hours, to St Louis is nine hours, to Washington, DC is 10 hours, and to New York is 13 hours.


Urban: The Cincinnati bus system offers services throughout Hamilton County and portions of Clermont County. In addition to numerous bus routes, Cleveland’s Regional Transit Authority has three rapid-transit lines that meet at downtown’s Tower City Center Station. Taxis are available in the major cities.
