Northern Ireland,
Money
Money: For information on currency, credit cards, travellers cheques, exchange rates and currency restrictions, see the main United Kingdom section.
Note: For travelling around and staying at small hotels, cash is needed. Elsewhere, as in England, cheques backed by a banker’s card are widely accepted. Some hotels will change money but Thomas Cook (there is one in Belfast, for example) and the banks give the best rate of exchange.
Banking hours: Mon-Fri 0900-1600. In very small villages, the bank may open two or three days a week only, so aim to get cash in the bigger centres.
