America is one of the largest and most varied countries in the world - and the list of activities not offered in the United States is a short one indeed. From the stunning beaches of the Pacific coast and Alaskas mountains to the legendary cityscapes of Eastern America and the laidback charm of the South, the country boasts just about everything you and your family could hope for.
When to go
Wast coast: Florida is an all year round destination; Thanksgiving and through to Christmas can be very busy.
West coast: Winter is a great time to visit, when the weather is still warm and sunny and the prices drop.
Top tip
Buy theme park and other attraction tickets in advance to avoid queues.
Food
Traditional American cuisine centres around child-friendly foods like hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza but, especially in larger cities, you’ll find pretty much every international cuisine available. And children are extremely welcome in the vast majority of restaurants, where service is generally world-class.
Entertainment
Entertainment doesn’t come much bigger, brighter and brasher than American entertainment. The theme parks are world-famous, the museums are fantastic for children of all ages, and the beaches and sports facilities offer just about everything you and your children could hope for.
