"Swoopy" was the look Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen wanted for his new museum devoted to music, and acclaimed architect Frank Gehry delivered the goods. Cranes and crews put the finishing touches on the Experience Music Project at the base of the Space Needle in preparation for its June 2000 opening. Inside its curvy metallic forms you can relive the days of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin—at least up to a point.
