A working-class immigrant family in the late 1800s did their best to spruce up this tiny apartment on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The area's low-rent tenement buildings, often grossly overcrowded, sparked needed city housing reforms. This fascinating museum in an 1864 tenement displays the restored rooms of actual residents.
