Ferry passengers arriving at Ellis Island still feel the sobering ghosts of history. The beautifully renovated halls display some of the moving stories, photographs, and luggage of the millions of "tempest-tossed" immigrants who passed through here hoping for a better life. You might find the names of your forebears inscribed in the stainless-steel wall outside.
