Dutch treat
Colorful Shop in Phillipsburg, Sint Maarten.
  Bob Krist/Corbis
Guavaberry liqueur—a concoction of rum and guava berries—is a must-try local delicacy made in the St. Maarten capital of Philipsburg. You may find a lack of elbow room in the duty-free shops of Front Street when the cruise ships unload, but duck down a lane to Back Street and you'll have breathing space. Casinos on the Dutch side of the island tempt you to try your luck; they're banned on the French side.
