Route 66 kicks
Route 66. Section of the so-called Most of the vintage diners are gone now, but you can still get your kicks on Route 66. The Mother Road weaves its way diagonally across Oklahoma, mingling with interstates and urban sprawl, but still magnetic in its appeal. This particular stretch between Miami and Afton is only 8 feet wide—so built in 1922 because the highway department lacked the funding for a full-width road to span the same distance.
