Gene Autrey Oklahoma Museum of Local History.
Oklahoma Tourism Photo by Fred W. Marvel
Aside from catchy refrains from the musical Oklahoma!, the state resounds with the voice of the legendary singing cowboy, Gene Autry. In the town named after this big-screen star, you can visit the museum dedicated to Autry and other yodeling cowboys of 1940s Westerns. Autry was encouraged in his career by that quintessential cowboy humorist, Will Rogers, whose memorial museum is found in Claremore.
