The rusting hulk of a World War II cargo ship testifies to the deceptively calm waters off Lanai's aptly named Shipwreck Beach. The untamed beauty and solitude of this 8-mile stretch of sand and rock lures sun-seekers, tooto picnic, fish, and beachcomb for glass floats and other nautical flotsam and jetsam. Don't venture out further than your knees, though, as powerful currents lurk offshore.
