Established in the 1920s as the hub of the Dole Company's pineapple plantation, Lanai City remains the island's population centre. Here you'll find traditional frame houses, brightly painted and tin-roofed, shaded by imported Norfolk and Cook Island pines. Much of the townand some of its carsremain as they were in the plantation days, providing an unassuming counterpoint to Lanai's luxury resorts.
