Once-abundant sea turtles in the Cayman Islands provisioned early mariners. In fact, Columbus called the islands Las Tortugas (The Turtles), and turtling became an important Caymanian industry. At the Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman, turtles are still raised for their meat, but also for release into the wild. You can see all stages of turtles in tanks, from tiny hatchlings to giant adults.
