Desert isle
  Dave G. Houser/Corbis
Sun-drenched beaches are the norm on Barbuda, where shade and rain are scarce. The island's spectacularly empty expanses come in both pink and white sand. Privacy makes the two resorts on the island a haven for the well off, but guesthouses are an option for budget travellers. Stay here for solitude and bird-life; head back to Antigua for nightlife.
