One of Hawaii's most magical places, the Waipio Valley spreads from sheer pali cliffs to a mile-wide, black-sand beach. Stream-fed taro plantations help support the valley's few dozen residents, a far cry from the thousands who lived here centuries ago. Try seeing the valley on foot or horseback to help preserve the tranquillity.
