Week 1

|
Good old Blighty may seem out of place next to the exotic destinations on the rest of the 'Best Beaches' list, but Brighton Beach does have a lot to offer and is of course, just on the doorstep. Despite very temperamental and often cold weather, a fairly un-inviting and uncomfortable beach and less than clear water, there is a great atmosphere down in Brighton in the summer months.
With the famous Brighton pier as a backdrop there is something for everyone in this newly regenerated seaside city. With a beautiful promenade to stroll along enjoying fish and chips or ice cream you can really soak up the benefits of a traditional English seaside experience. And if it's culture you're after, there are hosts of art galleries to satisfy a variety of tastes as well as all the amenities you could want close by, with big shopping centres within easy reach. Brighton is also a hive of nightlife with some of Britain's top clubs housing first rate DJ's based in the city, as well as smart bars and simple pubs.
Although Brighton isn't blessed with white sands, warm water and blue seas, it has a quaint English charm that means it is always worth a visit - even if it is to remind you why you need a holiday abroad every now and again!
