Expedia appoints Dermot Halpin President Expedia Inc for Europe, Middle East and Africa  Expedia Inc. has appointed Dermot Halpin as President of Expedia Inc. businesses across the European, Middle East and African regions. He was formerly European Chief Operating Officer and succeeds Simon Breakwell, who has been nominated to join the board of Expedia Inc.
Halpin has overall responsibility for the Expedia Inc. businesses, which include Expedia and Hotels.com across all points of sale in EMEA and Expedia Private Label, across the region. All Expedia’s European managing directors (other than those within its Partner Services Group) now report to him. Halpin joined Expedia.co.uk as operations director in October 2001 and was made managing director in 2002. He was made Expedia’s Europe Chief Operating Officer in 2005. Before joining Expedia, he held senior positions in Tele2 and its subsidiaries Intellient and Transac. Halpin has worked in five industries across seven geographies after gaining his MBA from INSEAD.
