Expedia.co.uk Launches New Brand With Multi-Million Pound Campaign

Expedia.co.uk, the UK’s leading full service online travel agent, today announces the launch of its new brand identity with a multi-million pound brand campaign, due to go live on 1st September 2005.

The new brand identity is encapsulated in the tagline ‘Let Yourself Go’ and aims to excite consumers about the possibilities of travel. It was developed by branding agency Lambie-Nairn from Expedia.co.uk’s core brand personality which reflects its offering that combines the best of online and traditional holiday values.

‘Let Yourself Go’ brings to life the wealth of exciting holiday experiences offered by Expedia.co.uk, from winter sun to cities of the world, using convenient booking tools which enable consumers to easily tailor make their holiday to suit their individual tastes, whilst saving money.

Consumers will first have sight of the new brand identity in TV and press advertising from September. They will also experience Expedia.co.uk’s new brand identity during their booking experience with the home page carrying the new brand look and feel.

All campaign creative will carry a blue sky and signature white cloud, combined with strong photographic images of destinations and people from around the world. The creative aims to tempt and stimulate consumers into giving into their holiday desires in addition to bringing to life the spontaneity afforded by booking online.

The new brand identity and brand campaign was developed by branding agency Lambie-Nairn, appointed in February to strengthen Expedia.co.uk’s brand communications and build on the travel agency’s leading position in the online travel market.

The campaign will begin with a 30 second TV ad and national press with media planning and buying undertaken by the incumbent agency, PHD. Online creative was produced by Lambie Nairn and Arnold Interactive and online media planning and buying was undertaken by Media Contacts.

Elyas Chowdhury, Marketing Director, Expedia.co.uk commented, “Our new brand identity is the most exciting step in the evolution of Expedia.co.uk’s marketing strategy to date. The newly defined brand captures the essence of ‘holiday’ and prompts consumers to bring to life their travel dreams. We are looking forward to seeing the impact of the new campaign over the coming months.”

Nick Hough, Chief Executive of Lambie-Nairn, said, “The new brand identity and creative is a bold, new approach for Expedia.co.uk. It brings the brand back to its core, providing inspiration around the possibilities of the holiday experience and giving Expedia.co.uk a fantastic platform to capitalise on its position as the UK’s leading online travel agency.”
