Every week we gather feedback from travellers who've just returned from their holidays. As part of this feedback, customers are asked to rate the destination they visited on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is poor and 10 is excellent. So we'd like to share with you the top 10 destinations, as rated by Expedia customers. We hope the list provides you with some inspiration for your next trip!
1. New York
A best selling destination and now also best rated destination by our travellers - it looks like New York is definitely top of the class. From classic attractions to quirky neighbourhoods, from strolling in Central Park to shopping on 5th Avenue via thousands of restaurants and bars… what's not to like?

"New York is a crazy city to be in; just walking around in it is satisfying. It's beautiful and has a lot of beautiful architecture for all to see. It doesn't matter where your accommodation is in New York as the public transport is excellent"
"We felt safer than we expected to whilst exploring the city. Everyone was very friendly and polite. Grey line bus tours (the red buses) are a must. We had a ball, go for it!"
2. Venice
This unique urban masterpiece has canals instead of streets, boats instead of buses, and ornate bridges instead of subways. Go to fall in love with the most beautiful city in the world.

"Staying on the Lido is generally cheaper than the equivalent on the main city and is a lot more convenient than it appears. Venice is one of the most interesting cities in the world"

3. Sydney
Sydney may not be the capital but it is Australia's biggest metropolis. Go for its unique setting, with miles of coastline, a breathtaking harbour and mountainous parklands, all complemented by a warm tropical climate.

"Sydney is great, The bridge walk blows your mind. We did it in a gale and felt safe as houses,despite being afraid of heights. Visit the tower as well for some amazing views"

4. Cape Town
With its Table Mountain backdrop, glorious beaches and delighting vineyards, the Cape Town region is simply stunning. And if you fancy a road trip, take the lush, green and aptly named Garden Route and follow the dramatic coastline.

5. Tokyo
Maybe it is the fact that the culture is so different from the UK or simply the incredible efficiency of public transport that Tokyo has made the Top 10. It seems that our customers didn't find themselves lost in translation at all in Tokyo.

6. Barcelona
Barcelona has transformed itself from smug backwater into one of the most dynamic and stylish cities in the world. Year-round the city sizzles - it's always on the biting edge of architecture, food, fashion, style, music and good times.

"Make sure you go on the bus tour. Great value at lets you get your bearings. If you buy for 2 days, you can use the second day as a taxi service for just a few Euros more. You have a mix of modern and historical which blend well, the atmosphere is buzzing. Use the subway it is cheap and easy"
7. Rome
So much history in such a walkable city - there really is no place like Rome. The Colosseum, Pantheon, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain and Villa & Galleria Borghese are just a few of the Eternal City's must-see attractions.

"There is so much to see. A really cultural city. The food is very good too. Rome is a joy whether it is history, art, religion that excites you - or even if you want sunshine and friendly people"
8. San Francisco
The hilly city of the West Coast made famous by many movie car chase is one of America's most attractive cities. Tourist attractions are numerous including former prison island Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and the adjoining Golden Gate Park.

The setting of Edinburgh could not be more striking. Perched on a number of extinct volcano cones and rocky crags, Edinburgh is exciting, full of art, culture, history and beauty. The city's castle, National Gallery and the Royal Botanic Gardens are all essential visits.
