Flights – Expedia provides customers the opportunity to easily compare the prices of all major airlines in one place. Our flight inventory includes full service airlines, charter airlines and low cost carriers, and we are constantly expanding our number of carriers.
Hotels – We offer over 50,000 Merchant Hotels and 35,000 GDS Hotels on our site. Our merchant hotels are contractually obliged to always provide us with their best available rate. Also, we agree ‘last room availability’ with our hotel partners- avoiding stop-sell with properties. Expedia is an important partner for hotels, generating sales throughout the year, thus getting allotment in high season and very low prices in low season.
Car hire – Expedia is largest online provider of rental cars, allowing us to negotiate market leading pricing and availability. As with all product groups we provide our customers with real-time availability access for our preferred Partners Avis, Alamo/National, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. The prices are either equal to Supplier Direct or delivered with rate parity contracted. Vehicles are supplied both stand-alone and in packages. Crucially our solution is branded, allowing customers to compare and choose from several well known car brands, benefiting from the vendors' different price positions per destination.
Dynamic Packaging – (Tailor made holidays) Expedia invented the concept of dynamic packaging and has continued to lead the market in technology development for dynamic packaging. Our solution offers multiple product combinations (flight + hotel, flight + car, flight + hotel + car each with multiple cross sells), vs. our competitors who only offer a flight +hotel option. Our product offering in this key area is vastly superior to those of our competitors. Targeting city breaks or long stays, Dynamic Packages provide a “bundle-and-save” discount for consumers – the average saving is £120 per customer when booking flight and hotel together. Packages are an answer to customers’ needs, simplifying the process (single shopping process and payment) and allowing your users to build tailor-made travel at a discounted price.
Airport Parking (as part of package) – Expedia currently offers car parking services, integrated into our booking paths, for all major UK airports.
Ground transport (as part of package) – Expedia also offers Ground Transport services in over 429 cities which includes airport transfers in city locations and resort transfers in summer sun and ski locations. The range of transport options varies by destination including private car transfers as well coach and train transfers.
Lounge access (as part of package) – Expedia provides airport lounge access in most major cities worldwide.
Destination services, attractions and events (as part of package) – Expedia operates a large and fast growing destination services business which adds significant value to the customer experience with an inventory of over 4,000 products offering everything from sightseeing tours to theatre tickets and restaurants.
