Driving Directions: The airport is located at the junction of I-65 and I-264. From the area surrounding Louisville, the airport can be reached by taking Preston Highway, which leads to Phillips Lane. Continue west along Phillips Lane and then turn left onto the Freedom Way ramp and follow signs for the airport. From Nashville, it can be reached from the I-65 North, leading to I-264 West, exit 131. From Lexington, it can be reached from I-64 West, which leads to I-264 West, exit 11. From St Louis, it can be accessed from I-64 East to I-264 East (exit 1) to exit 11. From Cincinnati, the airport can be reached from the I-71 South leading to exit 131.

Car Parking: There is space for 4,300 cars at the airport in a covered car park and a remote car park (tel: 502 367 4636 ext. 7530). Garage levels 1-3 offer covered parking, while level 4 and the remote car park are uncovered. Drivers may park in any car park, regardless of the length of stay; the remote car park offers the best value for long-term parking. Free shuttles run from the remote car park to the terminal building. Passengers parked in the covered car park can access the terminals from the lower level, via a subway. A free waiting zone, east of the terminal, is available for drivers picking up passengers at the airport; vehicles must be attended at all times and may not wait longer than one hour.


Public Transport: Road: Taxi: Numerous taxi companies serve the airport, including City Cab Company, Derby City Cab Company and First Class Cabs; taxis are metered, although a flat rate fare applies to downtown Louisville and the Hurstbourne hotel district. Flat rates do not apply during Kentucky Derby week. Limousine: Limousines can also be hired from a variety of companies, including Ambassador Capital Limousine (tel: 502 964 7139), Cosmopolitan Limousine (tel: 502 214 7412), R & R Limousine Service (tel: 502 957 4254) and Watkins Limousine Service (tel: 812 218 8122). Bus: TARC (tel: 502 585 1234) city buses also operate between Louisville and the airport and offer a 24 hour service; fares are higher during non-peak hours. Shuttle services are also available from Executive Transportation (tel: 502 897 2835), Louisville Transportation Company (tel: 502 314 8628) and Yellow Cab Airport Shuttle (tel: 502 315 8628).

Information and Help Desks: A central information desk (tel: 502 368 6524) is located in the middle of the lower level and is open seven days a week.

Airport Facilities: Money and communications: A bank and bureau de change is located on the upper level of the terminal and ATMs can be found in the terminal building. The airport also has telephones, several equipped with data ports, and a post box. A wireless Internet service via the VoiceStream network is also available. Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets and cafés at the airport. Shopping: There are newsagents, a convenience store, an equestrian shop, a PGA golf shop, a sports shop, a bookshop, a gift shop and a toy shop. Luggage: There is left-luggage at the airport. A lost property service is handled by the airport police (tel: 502 367 4636 ext. 264). Other facilities: There are family rooms available, including three brand new ones which have been built as part of the upgrading project. A games arcade and shoeshine service are also available.

Conference and Business Facilities: The Louisville Concierge and Business Center (tel: 502 657 0098) is located on the upper level of Departures and can provide computer workstations with Internet access, photocopying, fax and notary services, as well as overnight shipping, document shredding and international telephones. A conference room for up to 14 people is also available for hire. A new business centre is currently under construction and will be located on the mezzanine level.

Disabled Facilities: The airport has specially-designed ramps and kerbs, and lifts fitted with Braille control buttons. There is one TDD telephone per bank of telephones; telephones are wheelchair-accessible. For wheelchairs and assistance with boarding, disabled passengers should contact their airline. Two eight-passenger chauffeured electric carts and a 93m (310ft) escalator transport passengers to/from gates. Reduced-rate disabled parking is available in the covered car park, close to lifts.
