“Hotel Du Theatre”

Convenient for both the city attractions and the rail and tram network. The hotel room wasn't overly spacious but it was acceptable for a single traveller and it was kept clean and tidy by the housekeeping staff. All hotel facilities were as expected, and considering the local prices for food and drink the hotel wasn't an expensive option. One comment would the lack of choice/variety on the hotel menu. This isn' a criticism, but it was reason that I only ate there on my first night of a four night stay.

Getting around

Train and tram system simply superb. Whilst on business I was able to save around 70 CHF per day on taxi fares and in rush hour the trains were a quicker opion.

“LOVELY PLACE”

CONVENIENT FOR RAILWAY STATION (800YARDS) & OLD TOWN. FRIENDLY STAFF, REALLY PLEASANT (& SLIGHTY FUNKY) LAYOUT ( IT DID HAVE A THEATRE IN IT ONCE , HENCE THE NAME). ROOMS COMFY & WARM (WE WERE THERE IN DECEMBER). WOULD DEFINITELY USE IT AGAIN IF WE RETURNED TO ZURICH.

“Hotel du Theatre”

In a city of insanely expensive hotels, this is an affordable alternative in an excellent location: across the bridge from the train station and in the heart of the Old City with its cafes and restaurants. The single rooms are tiny but well designed and very clean. The staff is friendly and speaks excellent English. Wifi is not included in the rate and needs to be purchased from reception. If you don't need to constantly be on the internet it's cheaper to cross the street to the Starbucks and buy a coffee and get a free 30 minute wifi pass there. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a short duration and for business travelers.

Area recommendations

The Old City has very good restaurants and a charming atmosphere. Everything in Zurich is very expensive so I would avoid shopping altogether and just focus on site seeing and dinning.

“great location near main train station”

Con's: Paying $5 for 30 minutes of wireless, or $25 for 24 hours The down pillows are a joke, I had to stuff two together to get my head 1" off the bed Pro's: 5 minute walk to Zurich HB, main train station very comfortable mattresses room layout was cool, very tiny, but it all works rooms were very clean front desk staff was helpful and very nice I have stayed there twice in two weeks and I will very likely return one day. Nice place.

“Design Hotel”

Funky hotel, easy to find (on a convenient corner/road junction, only minutes walking distance from Zurich central train station and all the other important places in Zurich. Next door to Starbucks. Friendly staff. Room was a bit small but that wasn't a problem.

“Great location, quality”

Modern decor, very comfortable hotel and reasonably priced. 10 min walk from the main train station. next door to the pedestrian street, Niederdorf strasse and river bank.
